Contracciones Braxton Hicks
Cuando estamos embarazadas cualquier pequeño signo que nos de nuestro cuerpo nos parece una señal de alarma, sobretodo si somos madres primerizas. La mayoría hace varias visitas a la maternidad seguras de “llegó el momento”, hasta que verdaderamente el momento llega. No hay nada de que culparse. Los nervios, las ganas de que nazca ¡YA!, y también algunas trampitas que nos hace nuestro cuerpo, ayudan a confundirnos.
Las trampitas de nuestro cuerpo se llaman Contracciones Braxton Hicks, y se asimilan bastante a las del verdadero trabajo de parto. Generalmente comienzan a sentirse alrededor de la semana 28 de embarazo. No suelen ser dolorosas ni muy largas, sólo se siente cierta incomodidad por la contracción del útero, que pueden causar cierta rigidez abdominal.
Pero estás contracciones “falsas” no existen sólo para fastidiarnos, en realidad nos ayudan a prepararnos para soportar las verdaderas contracciones del parto, ya que ayudan a ablandar el cuello del útero, calentar los músculos y prepararlos para cuando tengan que entrar en acción.
¿Cómo distinguir entre las contracciones falsas y las verdaderas? Las contracciones verdaderas se van a intensificando con el tiempo. Las Braxton Hicks, no. Las que vienen con el trabajo de parto se hacen cada vez más frecuentes mientras que las contracciones Braxton Hicks tienden a desaparecer después de un rato. Y el punto más importante para diferenciarlas es que las contracciones Braxton Hicks no causan dolor, mientras que con las verdaderas si que lo sentirás.
Ante cualquier duda, siempre es mejor ir al hospital o llamar a tu médico, ya que nunca se está segura al cien porciento, sobretodo si se trata de madres primerizas. Y si se trata de Braxton Hicks, aprovecha para practicar hacia tu gran momento.
